On VahanQR's privacy plans, every masked call uses **call minutes** from your account. Light Privacy and Strict Privacy include free minutes every month, and you can top up with paid minutes that never expire. On Plan 1 (No Privacy) calls are direct and use no minutes.

> [!PATH] Dashboard › Call Minutes › Recharge

## How minutes work

| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| **Free minutes** | Your plan's monthly allowance. Reset on the 1st of each month. Unused free minutes do not carry over. |
| **Paid minutes** | Bought in packs. Never expire. |
| **Order used** | Free minutes first, then paid minutes. |
| **Counting** | Each answered call is rounded up to the next whole minute. |
| **Who pays** | The owner. Every masked call to you or your emergency contacts uses your minutes. |

## Read the Call Minutes card

At the top of your dashboard, the **Call Minutes** card shows:

| Figure | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Free Left** | Free minutes left this month |
| **Paid Balance** | Paid minutes left |
| **Total Available** | Free Left plus Paid Balance |
| **Free Used/Month** | Free minutes used this month |
| **Paid Used Total** | Paid minutes used since you joined |
| **Free Limit/Mo** | Your monthly free allowance |

The bar below turns orange, then red, as your free minutes run low.

## How to recharge call minutes

1. On your dashboard, press [[⚡ Recharge]] on the **Call Minutes** card.
2. In **Recharge Call Minutes**, under **Choose a Top-up Pack**, pick a pack. Each shows its price and the cost per minute.
3. Press [[Pay ₹… for … mins]].
4. Pay in the payment window.

> [!SUCCESS]
> You see "*N* Minutes Added!" — "Your call minute balance has been updated." Press [[✅ Continue]] and the **Paid Balance** goes up.

The pack prices are set by MJX and shown in the **Recharge** window. The window also says which payment method is active, for example "Payments via: Razorpay".

### Paying by UPI with a UTR number

If **Manual UPI** is the active payment method:

1. After choosing a pack, the **Manual Payment** screen shows "Pay exactly ₹…", the UPI ID, the account name, a UPI QR code (if set) and a **Reference**.
2. Pay from your UPI app.
3. Type the UTR into **Enter UTR / Transaction ID after paying** — find it in your UPI app under Transaction history › Transaction details.
4. Press [[Submit UTR for Verification]].

You see **Payment Submitted Successfully!** with your UTR and reference. Your minutes are added after MJX checks the payment — usually within 3–4 hours. Note down the UTR and reference until then.

## What happens when minutes run out?

| Plan | What the scanner sees |
|---|---|
| Light Privacy | A direct **Call Owner** button with your number, and "Call minutes exhausted. Showing direct call…" |
| Strict Privacy | **Strict Privacy — Call Unavailable** — "The owner needs to recharge to receive calls." |

When fewer than 5 minutes are left, the scan page also shows "Only *N* call minutes left · Recharge recommended", or "Call minutes exhausted · Owner must recharge to enable calls".

## Browser calls

If MJX has switched on browser calling, a scanner can also choose **Browser Call** — a call over the internet using their phone's microphone, at a lower per-minute cost than a phone call. It uses your minutes in the same way. See [Call the owner](scanning/call-the-owner).

## Tips

- On Strict Privacy, keep a small paid balance as a buffer. Paid minutes never expire, so they are there when free minutes run out.
- Check the **Call Minutes** card at the start of each month — that is when free minutes reset.
