# VahanQR privacy plans — No Privacy, Light Privacy and Strict Privacy

> Compare VahanQR's three plans, see how masked calling hides your number, and upgrade or downgrade from your dashboard.

VahanQR has three privacy plans. They decide whether a person who scans your sticker sees your phone number, and how their call reaches you. **Plan 1 — No Privacy** is free. **Plan 2 — Light Privacy** and **Plan 3 — Strict Privacy** mask your number and have a one-time fee.

## Compare the plans

| | Plan 1 — No Privacy | Plan 2 — Light Privacy | Plan 3 — Strict Privacy |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Price** | Free forever | One-time fee | One-time fee |
| **Your number on the scan page** | Shown | Hidden while you have minutes | Never shown |
| **Calls** | Direct, from the caller's own phone | Masked call while you have minutes, then direct | Always masked; no call when minutes run out |
| **WhatsApp Owner button** | Yes | Only when minutes run out | Never |
| **Emergency contact numbers** | Shown | Shown when minutes run out | Masked (only last 4 digits) |
| **Your name on the scan page** | Full name | First name only | Not shown |
| **Free call minutes** | None needed | Included every month | Included every month |
| **Message alerts** | Email to you (and WhatsApp, when switched on) | Email and WhatsApp to you, plus SMS and WhatsApp to emergency contacts | Same as Light |

The current one-time fees and monthly free minutes are set by MJX and can change. They are shown on the [pricing section](~/#pricing), on the sign-up form and on your dashboard. When MJX runs an offer, a plan may show **Free**.

## How masked calling works

On Light and Strict, the person scanning never gets your number. They type the last four characters of your plate and their own phone number. VahanQR then calls them, and connects the call to you. Neither of you sees the other's real number.

Masked calls use your [call minutes](privacy/call-minutes) — free ones first, then paid ones.

## What happens when minutes run out?

- **Light Privacy:** the scan page switches to a direct call. The caller sees your number on the **Call Owner** button, and a **WhatsApp Owner** button appears.
- **Strict Privacy:** the scan page shows **Strict Privacy — Call Unavailable**. Nobody can call you until you recharge. Messages still work.

## How to change your plan

> [!PATH] Dashboard › Privacy Mode › Plan 1 / Plan 2 / Plan 3

1. [Sign in](~/login). The **Privacy Mode** card is near the top of your dashboard.
2. Press the plan you want: **Plan 1**, **Plan 2** or **Plan 3**. Each shows its price, **Free**, **✅ Paid**, **↓ Free** (a downgrade) or **₹… more** (the difference to pay).
3. If the plan is free for you, it changes at once. You see "Plan updated!"
4. If there is a fee, the **Enable Privacy Mode** window opens with the one-time amount and what it includes. Press [[Pay ₹… & Enable Privacy]].
5. Pay in the payment window. When it succeeds you see "Privacy upgraded successfully!"

> [!SUCCESS]
> Your plan shows under your name at the top of the dashboard, for example **· 🔐 Plan 2**, and the note under **Privacy Mode** says "✅ Plan 2 — Light · … free call mins/month · Email & SMS alerts".

### Paying by UPI with a UTR number

If MJX is taking payment by direct UPI, a box shows the amount, the UPI ID and a reference. Pay from your UPI app, then type the UTR (transaction number) when asked. You see "Payment submitted successfully. UTR … recorded — your privacy upgrade will be applied after verification (within 24 hours)."

The same applies when you pick a paid plan at sign-up or while activating a sticker and pay by UPI: your account starts on No Privacy and the plan is applied when MJX approves the UTR. Card and Razorpay payments are checked with the gateway at once.

## Pricing rules

| Situation | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Downgrading (for example Plan 3 to Plan 1) | Nothing |
| Moving to a plan you already paid for | Nothing — it shows **✅ Paid** |
| Plan 1 to Plan 3, both plans paid | The full Strict fee |
| Plan 2 (paid) to Plan 3 | Only the difference, shown as **₹… more** |
| Offer: Light free, Strict paid | Light is free; Strict always costs its full fee |
| Free mode | Every plan is free |

A plan you got free under an offer does not count as paid, so it gives no discount on a later upgrade.

## Society residents

If you activated a society sticker, your society has already paid for its plan. You get that plan without paying. See [Activate a pre-printed sticker](qr-sticker/activate-a-pre-printed-sticker).

## Tips

- Light Privacy is the best balance for most owners: privacy most of the time, and you can still be reached in an emergency when minutes run out.
- On Strict, keep an eye on your minutes. If they run out, nobody can call you. See [Call minutes](privacy/call-minutes).

## Questions people ask

### Which plan should I choose?

Light Privacy suits most people — your number stays hidden while you have minutes, and you can still be reached when they run out. Choose Strict if your number must never be shown.

### Is the privacy fee monthly?

No. Plan 2 and Plan 3 have a one-time activation fee. They include free call minutes every month.

### Can I downgrade and upgrade again later?

Yes. Downgrading is always free. A plan you have already paid for shows "✅ Paid", so moving back to it costs nothing.

### I am on Light and want Strict. Do I pay the full price?

When both plans are paid plans, you pay only the difference, shown as "₹… more". During an offer where Light is free, Strict costs its full price.

### Does the plan cover all my vehicles?

Yes. The plan belongs to your account and applies to every vehicle in it.
