# Activate a pre-printed VahanQR sticker

A pre-printed VahanQR sticker comes without a vehicle linked to it. You activate it by scanning it with your phone and filling in one form. Stickers come from your housing society or from MJX and its sales partners.

## How to activate a sticker as a new user

1. Scan the sticker with your phone camera and open the link.
2. You see **Unactivated QR Sticker** — "Fill the form below to register this QR to a vehicle."
3. Keep the **New User** tab selected.
4. Fill in **Owner Name**, **Mobile (10 digits)** and, if you like, **Email**, **Emergency Contact 1** and **Emergency Contact 2**.
5. Fill in **Vehicle Number (RTO)**, for example `MP09XY1234`.
6. Fill **Make (e.g. Maruti)**, **Model (e.g. Swift)**, **City** and **State**, and choose **Vehicle Type** and **Insurance**.
7. Choose a **Privacy Mode** — **No Privacy**, **Light** or **Strict** — unless it is a society sticker (see below).
8. Add a **Vehicle Photo (optional)**.
9. Press [[Activate & Register Vehicle]].
10. If your plan has a fee, you see the one-time amount. Press [[Pay ₹… & Continue]], or [[Skip — Use No Privacy (Free)]].
11. After paying, press [[Activate & Register Vehicle]] again. VahanQR checks the payment with the payment gateway before the plan is applied.

> If MJX takes payment by direct UPI, you type your UTR (transaction number) after paying. The sticker is activated straight away, but your Light or Strict plan starts only when MJX confirms the payment — usually within 24 hours. Until then the sticker works on No Privacy.

> You see **Vehicle Activated!** and the sticker's link. Scan it again — it now shows your vehicle.

If you gave an email, you get "Your vehicle *plate* has been registered on VahanQR" with your login mobile number and a temporary password. [Sign in](~/login) with them. To set a password of your own, use [Forgot password?](~/forgot-password) — the reset link goes to the same email.

> Add an email if you can. Without one you get no temporary password, so you will need to sign in with OTP (when it is switched on) or ask support to help.

## How to activate a sticker as an existing user

Use this if you already have a VahanQR account and want to add this sticker to a new vehicle.

1. Scan the sticker.
2. Choose the **Existing User** tab.
3. Type your mobile number in **Owner mobile (10 digits)** and press [[Find]].
4. You see "Found an account". (MJX staff, and you when you are signed in to that account, see the account name.)
5. If you are not signed in to that account, press [[Send OTP]]. The code goes to the account's own email / WhatsApp. Type it in **OTP**. This proves the account holder agrees — nobody can link a sticker to an account just by knowing its mobile number.
6. Fill in the vehicle details and press [[Activate & Register Vehicle]].

When MJX staff activate a sticker for an existing customer, the customer gives them the OTP.

The vehicle is added to your existing account and appears in **My Vehicles**.

## Society stickers

A society sticker shows the society's name and the sticker's serial at the top of the form, for example "Society sticker **SNR-0042** — privacy is included by your society, there is nothing to pay."

- You do not choose a privacy plan. The **Privacy Mode** box shows the society's plan, "included by *society name*".
- You never see a payment step.
- If you already had a lower plan, the society's plan raises it. A higher plan you bought yourself is kept.
- If the society's account is suspended, you see "This sticker belongs to *society*, whose account is suspended. Contact the society office."

## Who may activate a sticker?

MJX chooses one of three rules in its settings:

| Anyone (no login required) | Anyone who scans the sticker |
| Any logged-in user | Anyone signed in to VahanQR |
| Admin / Sales only | MJX staff only. Everyone else sees **QR Not Yet Activated** — "Contact MJX Technologies to activate it." |

When MJX staff activate a sticker for you, it is listed under their **My Assignments** in the admin panel.

## Things to check

- One number plate can be linked only once. A plate already in VahanQR shows "Vehicle number already registered".
- A sticker can be activated only once. A second try shows "QR not found or already activated".
- A mobile number that already has an account shows "Mobile already registered. Switch to "Existing User" tab."
- A wrong or old OTP shows "Incorrect OTP. Please try again." or "OTP expired. Please request a new one." Press [[Resend OTP]].
- A payment that was already used for another activation shows "This payment has already been used."

## Questions people ask

### Do I pay anything for a society sticker?

No. Your society has already paid for the plan, so the form shows "privacy is included by your society, there is nothing to pay."

### I already have a VahanQR account. What do I do?

Choose the **Existing User** tab, enter your mobile number and press **Find**. Unless you are signed in to that account, press **Send OTP** and type the code you receive. Then fill the vehicle details.

### Why do I need an OTP to add a sticker to my account?

So nobody can link a sticker to your account just by knowing your mobile number. The code goes to your account's own email / WhatsApp.

### How do I sign in after activating as a new user?

If you gave an email, you get your login and a temporary password by email. You can also sign in with OTP if it is switched on.

### Why does the sticker say "QR Not Yet Activated"?

On this setup only MJX staff may activate stickers. Contact MJX and they will link it for you.
