In VahanQR, every vehicle in your account gets its own QR code and sticker. You can add as many vehicles as you own — a car, a bike, a scooter for your parents — from the **My Vehicles** tab of your dashboard.

> [!PATH] Dashboard › My Vehicles › + Add Vehicle

## How to add a vehicle

1. [Sign in](~/login) and open the **My Vehicles** tab.
2. Press [[+ Add Vehicle]].
3. Fill in **RTO Number** (required) — the number plate, for example `MP09XY1234`.
4. Fill the optional fields: **Make (e.g. Maruti)**, **Model (e.g. Swift)**, **City**, **District**, **State**.
5. Choose **Vehicle Type**, **Use** and **Insurance**.
6. Add a **Vehicle Photo (optional)** if you like.
7. Press [[Add Vehicle]].

> [!SUCCESS]
> You see "Vehicle added! QR code generated and sent to your email." The new vehicle appears in **My Vehicles** with its QR code.

To close the form without saving, press [[✕ Cancel]].

## Vehicle fields explained

| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| **RTO Number** | The number plate exactly as printed. Standard plates (`MP09XY1234`) and Bharat series plates (`23BH5904J`) both work. |
| **Make** / **Model** | The brand and model, for example Maruti Swift. |
| **City**, **District**, **State** | Where the vehicle is registered or kept. |
| **Vehicle Type** | car, bike, truck, auto, bus or other. |
| **Use** | Personal, Commercial or Rental. |
| **Insurance** | **Active** or **Expired / None**. A scanner sees this on the scan page unless the vehicle is verified with VAHAN. |
| **Vehicle Photo** | Optional. Shown at the top of the scan page so people can match the sticker to the vehicle. |

> [!NOTE]
> The sign-up form has two more choices for **Vehicle Type** (Van) and **Vehicle Use** (Government) than the dashboard form.

## How to edit a vehicle

> [!PATH] Dashboard › My Vehicles › Edit

1. Find the vehicle card in **My Vehicles**.
2. Press [[Edit]].
3. Change **Vehicle Type**, **Use**, **Make**, **Model**, **City**, **District**, **State** or **Insurance**.
4. To replace the photo, choose a new file under **Vehicle Photo**. Leave it empty to keep the current photo.
5. Press [[Save Changes]].

> [!SUCCESS]
> You see "Vehicle updated!" and the card shows the new details.

The number plate is not editable. Your QR code and printed sticker stay the same after an edit.

## How to delete a vehicle

1. Find the vehicle card in **My Vehicles**.
2. Press [[Delete]].
3. Confirm "Delete this vehicle? This cannot be undone."

> [!WARNING]
> Deleting a vehicle deletes its QR code and photo. The printed sticker stops working at once — a scan shows **QR Not Found**. Remove the old sticker from the vehicle.

Messages you received about that vehicle stay in your **Messages** tab.

## What the vehicle card shows

- The plate, with a green tick if it is **Verified with VAHAN**
- Type, make, model and city
- Insurance and PUC status, if verified (see [Vehicle verification](vehicles/vehicle-verification))
- The QR code, with [[Preview]] and [[Download Sticker]]
- [[Edit]] and [[Delete]]

## Who can do this

Only the account that owns the vehicle. A society account cannot add vehicles — residents add their own by activating a society sticker.

## Tips

- If adding a vehicle with a photo shows "Failed to add vehicle", add it without the photo first, then add the photo with [[Edit]].
- Add a clear photo taken in daylight. It helps a scanner confirm they have the right vehicle.
- Selling a vehicle? Delete it from your account and remove the sticker before you hand it over.

## Questions people ask

### How many vehicles can I add?

The dashboard has no fixed limit. Each vehicle gets its own QR code and sticker.

### Can I change the number plate of a vehicle?

No. The plate cannot be edited. Delete the vehicle and add it again with the correct plate — this creates a new QR code, so print the new sticker.

### Why does it say the RTO number is already registered?

Each number plate can be registered only once in VahanQR. If it is in another account, contact support.

### Does my privacy plan apply to all my vehicles?

Yes. The privacy plan and call minutes belong to your account, so every vehicle in it uses the same plan.
