VahanQR is built so a stranger can reach you without learning who you are or how to call you directly. On a privacy plan your phone number is never put on the scan page, calls are masked, and scan pages are hidden from search engines. This page explains exactly what is shown and what is kept.

#What a scanner sees — and does not

Shown on the scan pageNever shown
The plate with the last 4 characters hidden (MP09XY####)Your full plate
Your name — full on No Privacy, first name only on LightYour name on Strict Privacy, and your email
Vehicle type, use, model and photo (if added)Your address
Insurance status, or VAHAN insurance and PUC datesPolicy and PUC certificate numbers, your RC name
The scan countWho else scanned it
Your phone number — only on No Privacy, or Light with no minutesYour phone number on Strict Privacy, or on Light while you have minutes
Your emergency contacts' numbers — by the same rule as your own number; otherwise only their last 4 digitsTheir full numbers on Strict Privacy, or on Light while you have minutes

A hidden number is not just hidden on the screen: VahanQR does not send it to the scanner's phone at all, and the full plate is never sent either.

#How masked calls protect both sides

On Light and Strict Privacy, the caller types the last four characters of your plate and their own number. VahanQR calls them from its own number and connects the call to you. Neither side sees the other's real number. The plate check means a person must be standing near your vehicle — a photo of a sticker is not enough.

#Safety limits against misuse

ProtectionLimit
Plate check before every masked callLast 4 characters must match the real plate — VahanQR checks them, not the scanner's phone
Messages3 per vehicle per network in 10 minutes
WhatsApp button5 opens per vehicle per network in 10 minutes
OTP sign-in5 requests in 10 minutes; 5 wrong tries per code

The scan page warns that spam can get a sender's number and network blocked. If someone misuses your sticker, tell support with the time of the message.

#What VahanQR keeps

From VahanQR's Privacy Policy:

  • Account details — name, mobile, email and the emergency contacts you add.
  • Vehicle details — plate, type, make, model, location and photo.
  • Usage data — the time, duration and outcome of calls and messages routed through VahanQR, never the content of a voice call, plus basic technical data such as IP address.
  • Payment data — processed by the payment gateway. VahanQR never sees your full card number.
  • Consent record — the date, version and IP address from which you accepted the terms.

Data is stored on servers in India. VahanQR never sells it and never shares it with advertisers.

#Aadhaar and VAHAN checks

If VAHAN verification asks for your Aadhaar number, it goes to the government service for that one check. VahanQR never stores it and never shows it to anyone. See Vehicle verification.

#For people listed as emergency contacts

Someone may have added your number as their emergency contact. VahanQR uses it only to reach you when their sticker is scanned. To be removed, write to [email protected].

#For societies

A society sees each activated code's vehicle number and resident name — never the resident's phone number, email or messages.

#Your rights and deleting data

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent.

  • Delete a vehicle yourself: My Vehicles › Delete. Its QR code stops working at once.
  • Delete your account, or correct your email or contacts: write to [email protected], or contact support. MJX responds within 30 days.
  • After an account is deleted, personal data is removed or anonymised within 30 days, except records kept for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
